Con pan y vino se anda el camino….With bread and wine you can walk your road.
Castel Salleg Pinot Grigio pairs nicely with the toasted nut/browned butter qualities of Fiscalini Farm’s San Joaquin Gold.
We select wines made by small, high quality producers from many of the classic wine regions of the world, with a particular focus on Oregon and the Northwest.
Though the list is relatively small, 75-100 labels, you will find a wide array of styles, varietals, regions, and producers represented. Many of the wines in the shop garner critical recognition, but we are less concerned with the big number scores than we are the thoughtful expression of varietal, place, and tradition. We seek out wines that—in addition to being simply a pleasure to drink—compliment our cheese, meats, and other products. For example, to help with cheese pairings, many of our whites are no oak or lightly oaked.
Because many of the winemakers we work with are small and because wine, like cheese and produce is seasonal, you will find our inventory changes frequently as new wine is released and older vintages sell out. Sign up for our e-mail list to get the jump on your favorite wines and producers.
Tim likes to think he can feel a wine’s soul by touching its label.
We understand how daunting wine buying can sometimes be, so we do our best to help you make an informed purchase. Most of our wines have “shelf talkers” with tasting notes, information about the producer and/or varietal, and pairing suggestions. But there is no substitute for tasting the wine. Foster and Dobbs offers regular tastings and monthly classes and/or presentations. You may also purchase wine by the glass to enjoy in the store or on our patio. May we suggest pairing your glass of wine with one of our cheese or charcuterie plates?

A Taste of South Africa
Stop by the shop this Friday for a taste of wine from two producers located in South Africa’s celebrated Stellenbosch (near Cape Town), Simonsig and Rust en Vrede. Here, the cool currents of Antarctica temper the Cape’s heat and produce wine that is full bodied but balanced by lively acidity. The free tasting is 4:30 – 6:30pm, Friday, October 2.
