Foster & Dobbs : Cheese

Condiments

The details make all the difference, don’t they? You can have a perfectly good burger going – good meat, good bun, even some good cheese – but if you want it to become a great burger you need condiments. Some terrific mustard and the right pickles can send that burger to the moon! Our favorite pickles for burgers are from Rick’s Picks: GT 1000s are curried green tomato pickles with onion and raisins – Woo Hoo, are they good! Of course, we like all eight varieties of Rick’s pickles because each one is a tasty little flavor adventure.

Jammin’ with June Taylor.

What’s toast without jam? Hot dry bread! We have a delicious collection of jams and marmalades that can make getting out of bed in the morning worthwhile. June Taylor hand cuts all the fruit and personally watches over each tiny batch of her jams and marmalades – and the flavors positively glow! We also carry the remarkably tasty Ayers Creek Jams made by Anthony and Carol Boutard from the exquisite fruit they grow on their Willamette Valley farm. Looking for a unique way to surprise your sweetie? Try a little Rose Petal Confit on a Pearl Bakery Baguette with some good sweet French butter.

Chutneys and salsas are another great way to add some pop to a dish. A dollop of Apricot Fig Chutney dresses up a simple sausage meal nicely, and a spoonful of Cilantro Green Olive Salsa makes scrambled eggs taste even better. We have lots of ways to make good food even better.

And though it seems almost impossible to make cheese better than it already is, it can be done: drizzle a wedge of Ewe’s Blue with lavender honey, smear a bit of Colston Bassett Stilton with Verduzzo Wine Jelly, top a slice of Tuada with Black Cherry Confit, snuggle up some Fiscalini Bandage Wrapped Cheddar and Mango Chutney… Oh, how happy you will be!
