April 1st Tasting: Domaine des Haut Châssis
March 24, 2011
This Friday, we’ll tastes of three wines from one winemaker, from three parcels of one vineyard, and three consecutive vintages: it’s a Nearly Vertical Tasting! Frank Faugier of Domaine des Hauts Chassis in Crozes-Hermitage makes three distinct and delicious wines, each expressing the essential dark cherry, blackberry, smoke, chocolate and spice notes of Northern Rhône syrahs. Joe Moura from Casa Bruno Wines will be here to share tastes of Domaine des Haut Châssis’ 2007 Crozes Hermitage “Les Châssis”, 2008 Crozes Hermitage “Les Galets”, and 2009 Crozes Hermitage “Esquisse”. Tasting these three vintages side by side offers an opportunity to focus on nuances and variations of the grape, created by weather and sculpted by the winemaker. Syrahs are perfect for enjoying with bold cheeses, barbecue, braised meats, and spicy pizzas. We hope you’ll come by the shop the Friday, April 1st (no fooling!) from 4:30 to 6:30pm, and launch your weekend with a taste of the good life!
