Friday Wine Tasting: Txac It Up!

Odds are that when you think about Spanish wine, it’s all about the reds: Tempranilla, Garnache, Mencia. But Spain also produces lovely whites as well, crisp, floral, delicate. And from up north in Basque country comes Txacolina (pronounced CHOCK-oh-LEE-nuh). Zesty, brightly acidic and low alcohol, Txacolinas have a slight fizz that makes them a refreshing summer wine. If you’re a fan of Eric Asimov’s New York Times column The Pour, check out what he has to say about wines. And come by the shop on Friday, August 20th, 4:30 - 6:30pm, when our friend Bonnie Crocker from Domaine Selections will be here to share samples of four: 2009 Txomin Etxaniz, Getariako Txakolina, 2009 Ameztoi Getariako Txakolina Rubentis, 2009 Gurrutxaga Bizkaiko Txakolina, and 2009 Uriondo Bizkaiko Txakolina. (Don’t worry – you won’t have to say the names to get a taste!) Don't miss this chance to taste four of these marvelous wines: you just might find your new summer favorite!
