April 23rd Tasting: Rex Hill Winery
April 20, 2010
Rex Hill Vineyard and Winery was founded in 1982 by Paul Hart and Jan Jacobson, just as the world was beginning to pay attention to Oregon Pinot Noirs. Over the next two decades they produced many highly rated wines and were named Wine & Spirits Magazine's Winery of the Year four times. When they retired in 2007, rather than sell to a big conglomerate, they passed the reins to the founders of A to Z Wineworks, Bill and Deb Hatcher, Cheryl Francis, and Sam Tannahill. Over the last three years, these four have rededicated the winery to excellence and sustainability: the vineyards are now biodynamic and production levels have been concentrated to raise the quality of the wine even higher than before.
On Friday, April 23rd from 4:30 to 6:30, Michael Willison of Rex Hill Vineyards & Winery will be at the shop sharing samples of wines that showcase the quality of the reinvigorated winery. Drop by to chat with Mike and taste the 2007 Willamette Valley Oregon Chardonnay, the 2007 Reserve Chardonnay, the 2007 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, and the 2006 Jacob Hart Pinot Noir. Come sample the wines, perhaps enjoy a cheese and charcuterie plate, and relax on a lovely Friday evening. What could possibly be nicer?
