August 7th Class: The Art of Espresso
July 29, 2008
I've always thought of espresso as a bitter drink: tolerable when shots are pulled at a decent coffee house, but almost undrinkable when we've made them at home with our stove top espresso maker. Andrea Spella of Spella Caffè has changed my mind. The shots he pulls at his little trailer parked at the corner of NW 9th and Alder are smooth and delicious, with a natural sweetness and delicate fruitiness. On Thursday, August 7th, Andrea will be here to teach us the Art of Espresso and how you, too, can pull great shots at home. If you've invested in a nice home espresso maker but have been less than thrilled with what you're getting, join us for this class! Andrea will talk about the history and lore of coffee, growing regions, and the techniques for making great espresso. And of course we'll be pairing some tasty cheeses with our espresso!
